For what we put our poor hair through – blow-drying, obsessive styling and/or colouring – it deserves a little TLC every now and again. Luckily there is an easy answer to this predicament which doesn’t involve taking a trip to your local salon. I am of course talking about the humble hair mask. Offering a solution to any given problem there isn’t a lot a hair mask can’t do. So without further ado, I would like to introduce you all to a couple of my all-time favourites – The Ultimate All-Rounder: Rahua Omega 9 Hair Mask (200ml £47) – Designed to help restore your mane to its former glory this 15-minute beauty ritual is arguably my most used and most loved hair care treatment of all-time. Containing a unique blend of Quinoa (to revitalise and strengthen), Sunflower Seed Oil (to soften and add shine) and Ungurahaua Oil (to nourish and heal weak, damaged strands) this powerful mask offers all the benefits of a salon worth treatment in the comfort of your very own bathroom. Hence, why it is often referred to as insurance for your hair as this mask without fail always manages to leaves your hair (no matter how bad its condition) looking and feeling sleeker, smoother and considerably healthier. Plus, like all things Rahua, this mask is ecological, sustainable and 100% natural. The Overnight Wonder: Living Proof Night Cap Overnight Perfector (118ml $28) – If you highlight, blow-dry and/or straighten your hair on a regular basis, chances are its need of a little vacation. Designed to deliver a week’s worth of softer, shinier and more manageable hair overnight, this easy-to-use mask is a real game changer – especially if you are poor of time. Containing an exquisite blend of amino acid (to keep your hair smooth, soft and supple), time-release conditioners and antioxidants (to ensure your hair is properly hydrated and protected) this mask helps to keep your hair looking, feeling and behaving its best.
How To Use: Before bed, as and when, apply two to three pumps to damp or dry hair (focusing predominantly on the ends.) Comb through to evenly distribute and then pop in a bun. Get some all-important beauty sleep and then come morning either wash out or style. The Cult Classic: Philip Kingsley Elasticizer (75ml £17.50) – Loved by bloggers and celebrities the world over, Philip Kingsley’s Elasticizer was the first ever pre-shampoo conditioning treatment to hit the market. A saviour for extremely dry and damaged hair, the Elasticizer works by delivering a rush of intense moisture to the hair’s cuticle – thus drastically improving the suppleness, elasticity and bounce of one’s hair without leaving it feeling weighting down, making this a great one for all hair types but especially fine and/or limp. Best of all the results are visible even after just one use.
How To Use: Dampen your hair and apply the mask, concentrating on coating the mid-lengths to ends. Cover with a plastic cap and leave to sit for 10 to 20 minutes before shampooing and conditioning as normal. The Quick Fix For Damaged Hair: Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor (250ml £4.99) – Often when products have miracle in the title I am left feeling a bit disappoint, however, this product wholeheartedly deserved its bold name. Containing a gorgeous blend of Australian Balm Mint, Aloe Vera and Lemon Balm this inexpensive mask quickly and effectively soothes and transforms dry, damaged hair to leave you with shiny, manageable and incredibly enviable looking locks. The New One For Oily Roots: L’Oreal Extraordinary Clay Masque Pre-Shampoo Treatment (150ml £5.99) – Living in our modern polluted world it no wonder really that a lot of us have seen an increase in the amount of sebum our scalp produces on a daily basis. The unfortunate result of this rise though is greasier, duller and significantly more lifeless looking locks. Enter L’Oreal Extraordinary Clay. Formulated with 3 refined clays that work to gently soak up the excess sebum, this ingenious little mask helps to leave your hair feeling clean, light and lifted – in others words it truly is a modern-day must-have.
How To Use: Before shampooing, simply apply a decent amount onto your dry roots, massage into the scalp section by section. Leave to sit for 5 minutes before shampooing and conditioning as normal.
