The beauty world often collides with the food world – ingredients like avocado, green tea and oatmeal have for years now made up the foundation of some of my all-time favourite products. As such it came as no surprise to me when I started to see trendy superfoods like kale or matcha cropping up in different skincare and makeup formulas – but I never expected to find them housed inside a bottle of nail polish. That’s right, Nails Inc have once again achieved the seemingly impossible. Speaking of which, I would like to introduce you all to a few of my current favourites – all of which are very springtime appropriate.
For years now I have believed the key to a good-looking, long-lasting manicure is a great base coat. Enter the new love of my life – Nails Inc Superfood NailKale Base Coat (14ml £15). Enriched with kale, aloe vera, lemon, ginseng, pomegranate and grape this super nourishing base coat not only helps to strengthen your nails (read: fewer breakages), but it also thanks to it high antioxidant content really does help to stimulate significantly quicker nail regrowth. Top Tip: This beautiful base coat also doubles up as a powerful intensive treatment – simply apply 2 coats, 3 times a week onto bare nails and you will be amazed by the results.
Brilliant base coat aside, let’s talk colours. My first favourite comes in the shape of Nails Inc Mayfair Lane (14ml £14) – a gorgeous pale dusky pink shade that just screams springtime. Once again a part of their groundbreaking and incredibly popular NailKale collection this deeply nourishing polish applies like an absolute dream.
In addition to the NailKale line Nails Inc have just launched a brand new superfood line called Sweet Almonds Powdered By Matcha. Formulated with a sweet almond oil base and enriched with matcha powder these incredibly hydrating polishes feed your nails with goodness to keep them looking and feeling incredibly strong and health – so much so I have found I don’t need to use cuticle oil as often as I used to. With 4 beautiful muted tones to choose from its hard to pick just one favourite, so I have two for you. The first is Gloucester Crescent (14ml £14) – a beautiful muted blue grey that goes seamlessly with everything. And the second is Cornwall Gardens (14ml £14) – a gorgeous lilac-grey that really is a natural lovers idea of heaven. Top Tip: The key to any nail polish application is to allow ample drying time between coats.
To Note: All three polishes are fully opaque in just two coats.
What do you think of this new era of nail care?
